COMPOUND COMPANY

Compound Company is a young urban contemporary dance company based in Aachen / Germany and currently working with five dancers. With their various stylistic profiles, educational paths and nationalities, they stand for the cultural diversity that characterizes the work of the company.

The initiative started in 2017 with a pilot project and developed its first production "A.K.A.". Compound Company itself was founded in 2019 with the vision of developing innovative dance and dance theater pieces on current topics. The company is part of the dance network ARTbewegt e.V. under the artistic direction of choreographer Yvonne Eibig.

Digital Research

In the current research phase, the company is preparing a dance piece that crosses borders at various levels. Dancers with different nationalities and careers combine urban dance styles such as breaking, tricking and hip-hop with contemporary techniques. In addition, the ensemble conducts research under the artistic direction of Yvonne Eibig and the technical direction of geologist dr. Simon Virgo about the interaction between human bodies and digital stage design. In the process, technologies and methods from the scientific field are implemented in an artistic environment. The underlying techniques are on the one hand the 3-dimensional mapping of space and the real-time 3D modeling in the computer. By integrating spatially precisely located projections, an augmented reality effect is created in which the real world is supplemented by a digital dimension. Dancers and space are not only a projection surface but also an interface to influence and change the digital dimension.
